Collingwood MagpiesAFTER missing out on the West Coast coaching position, Scott Burns has crossed from an assistant coaching position at the Eagles back to his former team Collingwood to become the Pies midfield coach.

Burns takes over the position of Robert Harvey, who has been promoted to a senior assistant coaching position.

Burns, who has been a top AFL senior coaching prospect in recent seasons, said he was looking forward to being back at his old club.

“I have really enjoyed my time at the Eagles and appreciate the opportunities they have given me,” Burns said.

“The chance to take up this position at Collingwood was too good to pass up and I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

“I’ve learnt a lot from so many people at the club and I’d like to thank them and wish them well for the future.”

Adam Simpson recently won the West Coast coaching position and assistant coaching positions have since fallen with Burns joining David Teague and Phillip Walsh on the outer.

There have yet to be any appointments under Simpson.

Eagles football operations manager Craig Vozzo said: ”We have been extremely lucky to have someone of Scott’s calibre working with our players for the past five years.”

“His ability to motivate and educate our players has been outstanding.

“We wish him all the best as he continues to develop himself as a coach and I have no doubt that we will see Scott coaching at a senior level before long.”
