THE West Coast Eagles completed their trade with Brisbane that will see utility Elliot Yeo play for the club in 2014.
To secure Yeo, who had earlier this off-season told the Lions that he wanted to return home to WA, the Eagles have traded the 28th pick in this year’s National Draft.
“I’m very happy,” said Yeo via the Eagle’s website.
“It has been quite a stressful time and it is nice to have the deal now done.
“I am really looking forward to sorting out the relocation and playing back in Perth with West Coast. At the same time I was privileged to get my first opportunity with Brisbane and will always be grateful for that. Michael Voss was also very good to me and gave me my start in the AFL.”
Yeo, 20, was drafted by the Lions with the 30th pick in the 2011 National Draft out of East Fremantle (WAFL), and made his debut in Round 9 of the 2012 season. He had played in 27 games for Brisbane.
“Recruiting Elliot through this trade period was our major focus,” said General Manager Football Operations Craig Vozzo.
“Brisbane was keen on a second round draft pick, so we have swapped pick 28 to get that done.
“By bringing another party (Collingwood) into the negotiations early in the week we were able to retain a prominent position in the first three rounds of the draft and still bring a quality young player, who we believe has much to offer, onto our list.
“With Hawthorn premiership player Xavier Ellis joining our club as a free agent we are delighted with the way things have transpired over the last three weeks.”
