THE West Coast Eagles may announce the successor to John Worsfold as early as Friday.
The Eagles are believed to have interviewed Fremantle Assistant Coach Peter Sumich and Hawthorns’ Adam Simpson after their Grand Final duties concluded on the weekend.
Sumich, who is a two time West Coast Eagles premiership player, spent ten seasons at the club as an Assistant Coach before crossing to Fremantle for the start of the 2011 season.
As a respected assistant and favourite son of the club, Sumich is considered the front runner ahead of Simpson who could be destined for Senior Assistant role under Paul Roos at Melbourne.
Current West Coast Assistant Coach Scott Burns is still in the mix as is Sydney’s Leigh Tudor and Port Adelaide’s Alan Richardson.
Worsfold quit West Coast last month after coaching the side since 2002. Under Worsfold, West Coast defeated Sydney by one point to win the 2006 premiership after losing to the Swans the year before.
